Permission to stay is not a safety guarantee

A campervan-friendly campsite permits the stay under its rules; it does not guarantee safe heat, cold, ventilation, or posture. Check idling, fire, generator, and quiet-hour rules before choosing gear.

Cancel the vehicle stay when extreme conditions cannot be made safe with equipment.

Measure the real sleeping space

Measure length, width, and seat steps with your own vehicle configured for sleep. Compare deployed size, thickness, manufacturer-listed insulation, packed size, and what happens if an air mat leaks. Keep driving controls and an exit clear.

Privacy must be quick to remove

Compare window shades by vehicle fit, fixing method, storage, drying, and emergency removal. Remove every shade before driving and restore full visibility.

Ventilation gear does not make a hot car safe

JAF testing found dangerous heat even with windows opened about 3 cm. Do not rely on a fan, cracked window, or shade to make a hot parked car safe; leave the vehicle in dangerous heat. Source checked 2026-07-14: JAF cabin-temperature test.

Use thermometers and ventilation accessories only as monitoring and support. Check vehicle fit, rain limitations, and power requirements. Never use combustion equipment inside the vehicle.

Movement, lighting, and toilet backup

JAF describes the risk of remaining in one posture during driving or sleeping in a car and recommends leg movement and stretching. Plan breaks, hydrate, and stop if unwell. Source checked 2026-07-14: JAF DVT guidance.

Use a separate LED light instead of draining the cabin light. Carry a sealed portable toilet backup when opening hours are uncertain and follow local disposal rules.

Comparison and safety check

Compare vehicle fit, deployed dimensions, pack size, listed insulation, emergency removal, ventilation fit, and power. Verify current prices, stock, and specifications on manufacturer and merchant pages.

Check: current permission, idling/fire rules, weather alerts, bed dimensions, restored visibility, ventilation path, movement breaks, and toilets.
